Soul music always brings out the best in everyone’s dancing abilities. Hand clapping, hip swaying, feet shuffling, even a simple head bob, nothing goes astray with solid bass lines and impressive vocal feats.
All of this and more were on offer from The Meltdown and Putbacks, staring such vocal feats from the likes of Simon Burke and Emma Donovan.
Inside the long and beautiful Oratory at the Abbotsford Convent, stained glass windows lining the walls and a large blue glass dome above the stage, the crowd piled in.
Well-priced drinks at the bar down the back made for some liberal lubrication, which does well in increasing dancing abilities or at least the illusion.
It was an evening that soothed some souls and destroyed some soles.
